When we started reading the short story “All Things Nice” our first impression was that it was very long because we were not used to reading so much in English, then the lack of punctuation accentuated this sensation. We had to make our way through this prose and take up the challenges that the writer threw at us. We imagined with her this Russian man parking his car next to the supermarket and doing his shopping going from one supermarket shelf to another. The scene of the husband and his wife has destabilized us and it seemed to us a little raw. Some passages left us breathless. We enjoyed reading this short story whose style was completely new to us. The novel takes its title from this short story but we will not tell you more, just read it!
